Atkins Diet

The Atkins Diet has had lots of publicity in the past. The idea behind the diet is to consume more protein (meats) and fewer carbohydrates (grains, breads).

A high protein, low carb diet has in some cases shown scientific benefits. In some studies people on this diet lost weight and had lower cardiovascular risks.

However, there is lots of controversy about the diet because it leads to a high fat intake. Lower carbs can put the body into a ketosis state and add more stress on the organs. The Atkins diet also lacks longevity. It is unlikely that someone will live this diet forever.

While the idea has merit, there is a better way to achieve real, permanent weight loss.
